Project #4

Dual Enrollment Accounting and Financial Management Project

K-16 Collaborative is working to support students in the fields of accounting and finance.

In this specialty program focused solely on the Accounting and Financial Management pathway, Fresno City College has collaborated with us to create a dual enrollment program to support our K-12 feeder schools.

Pathway:

In a specialty program focused solely on the Accounting and Financial Management pathway, Fresno City College has collaborated with us to create a dual enrollment program to support our K-12 feeder schools. Counselors will identify students interested in accounting at both Bullard High School and McLane High School to build 15-student-strong cohorts at each site. Through the college classes they will be able to take, participating students will complete a certificate of achievement while still in high school to aid in their pathway to a bachelor’s degree at a surrounding university.

The goal of this program is to close the equity gap and prioritize socioeconomically disadvantaged students. Historically, the Central Valley is one of the areas of California with the least bachelor’s degree completions in the state. By offering a direct pathway to a specific bachelor’s degree with tons of help along the way, we hope to make a supportive environment and guaranteed success for our underserved students.

We hope dual enrollment will save students not only time but also money as we expedite their way to a bachelor’s degree with early college coursework. We will encourage not only students who are above average but also students who are below average to enroll in these programs as everyone deserves an opportunity to work toward a successful future.
